The complicated dynamic in Rhode Island's 2010 governor's race -- with Democratic, Republican, independent, and Moderate candidates -- makes more significant the matter of just who's running for the Mods. Under the right circumstances, the Mod candidate might draw from some combination of the other entrants in the race.


    
Mods to announce some candidates

The Moderate Party of RI has said it's waiting until April to unveil its gubernatorial candidate, but some hopefuls will be announced later this month:

After only five months of official recognition as a political party, the Moderate Party of Rhode Island is proud to announce we have recruited great candidates for local city councils, the General Assembly, and several state wide offices, including the office of the Governor.


    
Is Laffey running a stealth campaign?

Amid a keynote address by Steve Laffey tomorrow evening to a meeting of the Rhode Island Tea Party, speculation continues about whether the former Cranston mayor is planning a late entry to the governor's race. Democratic activist Matt Jerzyk puts it more definitively:

RI ACORN disavows town hall e-mail

Shannon McDonald, the lead organizer for Rhode Island ACORN, says an e-mail supposedly sent on behalf of the liberal advocacy group is a fake.
